What Cloudflare already does well#

Cloudflare is a network and security platform with capable redirect tools. Single Redirects are zone-level rules, including wildcard and dynamic destination options. Bulk Redirects are account-level lists of static source and destination URLs that can apply across the domains in your account. They support dashboard, CSV and API workflows. Cloudflare also documents Trace for checking whether a rule triggered.^[1]

For a site already using Cloudflare, that is a strong default. If the old path and new path follow the same pattern, one Single Redirect may cover many URLs. Cloudflare publishes an example of forwarding an entire old domain to a new one while preserving path and query string.^[2] If 500 old URLs need 500 distinct destinations, Bulk Redirects are built for that job. RedirHub does not win this example merely by having a CSV import.

Both rule types require the relevant DNS records to be proxied by Cloudflare. Single Redirects run before Bulk Redirects; a WAF-blocked request will not reach a Bulk Redirect.^[3] Check that order when troubleshooting.

Creating rules and checking traffic#

For a single redirect, Cloudflare's dashboard lets you pick a wildcard or custom match, set a target and status code, decide whether to preserve the query string, and deploy.^[4] You can use Cloudflare Trace to check whether a particular URL triggers the expected rule. That is a workable UI for someone already administering the site in Cloudflare.

For a static list, Cloudflare's dashboard lets you upload a CSV, review the entries, then create a Bulk Redirect Rule to enable the list. RedirHub also supports CSV import and export. If your job is one import and little else, workflow convenience alone may not justify a second subscription. See the Bulk Redirect setup.

Cloudflare also added a meaningful rules-engine capability in October 2026. hash_in_range() is available to HTTP products on all plans and Cloudflare documents using it with cf.random_seed to select an approximate percentage of requests.^[5] Because Single Redirects use Ruleset Engine match expressions, this gives technical teams a building block for percentage-based redirect logic.^[6] Cloudflare does not present it as a redirect-specific A/B-testing or multi-target UI, so the operator still owns the rule design.

RedirHub Pro takes a more productized approach when the job is simply "send one managed link to multiple destinations." Its externally approved multi-target feature supports Random and Sequential routing; Random distributes requests equally across configured destinations, while Sequential rotates through them in order.^[7] RedirHub does not currently claim custom per-destination weights.

Picture an SEO lead reviewing an old pricing URL after a site move. They test whether it points to the right new page, check whether visitors still reach it, then change the destination if the new page has moved again. Cloudflare Trace can test whether the rule fires; HTTP Traffic analytics show requests and countries on Free, with host, path, device, referrer and status-code filters on paid plans.^[8] RedirHub puts analytics on each redirect; Core includes basic analytics and 90 days of history, while Pro adds detailed analytics and longer history.^[9] The difference is how directly the owner can find and update a specific old URL.

Ask the person who owns the old URLs to add one rule, change its destination and find its traffic in each workflow. If those tasks are already easy in Cloudflare, stay there.

When marketing, SEO and IT teams own redirects#

Now consider a different job: a team is responsible for 20 retired or brand domains. Some forward whole domains; others carry individual campaign URLs and QR destinations. The team needs to see which redirects still receive visitors and keep the destinations current.

RedirHub Core is $49/month and includes 25 connected domains, 2,500 active managed links, automatic HTTPS, basic redirect analytics and 90 days of click and scan data.^[10] A root domain and its www version count together as one domain. A basic whole-domain redirect does not use managed-link capacity. Individual branded links, dynamic QR destinations and URL mappings do. In this example, 20 root/www pairs fit Core's base domain allowance if those are the only connected hostnames.

Cloudflare's account-level Bulk Redirects can cover these domains and offer CSV and API management. RedirHub puts the recurring work in one redirect workspace: SEO reviews old URLs and traffic, marketing updates branded links and QR destinations, and IT maintains brand and retired domains. If your team already handles that work comfortably in Cloudflare, another subscription may add little value.

Check where the traffic enters before switching#

RedirHub needs the hostname it serves to be pointed to its infrastructure. Cloudflare Redirect Rules need traffic for that hostname to be proxied through Cloudflare. Those are real setup choices; neither product can take over a URL path through DNS alone.

For example, if your existing website lives on the root domain and must stay there, you cannot point only its /old-page path at RedirHub using DNS. Keep that path rule in Cloudflare or your website. If a separate retired domain or a dedicated link subdomain needs its own redirect service, you can evaluate pointing that hostname to RedirHub while leaving the main website where it is.

You also do not need an all-at-once move. A team can leave its existing Cloudflare website rules in place and test RedirHub on a separate domain it owns. Document the source paths, destination paths and query-string handling before moving any production traffic.

Pricing and redirect limits#

Cloudflare Pro and Business are broader Cloudflare plans, not redirect-only subscriptions.^[11] A Cloudflare Single rule, a Bulk URL entry, a RedirHub domain and a RedirHub managed link are different units. For a buyer already on Cloudflare Free, adding simple redirects may cost nothing extra.^[1] For RedirHub, start with the number of hostnames you will connect and the links, QR destinations or individual mappings you will keep active.^[10]
