What a URL redirect service does

Your old address answers with a redirect. You never run the server.

A URL redirect service answers requests for a domain or URL with a 301, 302, 307 or 308 that points visitors and search engines to the new address. You point the domain's DNS to the service once; HTTPS, scaling and uptime are handled for you.

  • Certificate for old-brand.com
  • /pricing kept
  • UTM tags passed through

How it works

Live in three steps

The same flow works from the dashboard, the REST API or the MCP server. Your DNS and email stay where they are.

  1. 1

    Create the redirect

Choose Domain Redirect, enter Redirect from and Redirect to, and pick Keep the path or Everything to one URL. What happens shows where sample addresses will land before you save.

The New domain redirect form, with What happens listing where sample addresses land
  2. 2

    Point your DNS

Connect DNS sets it up automatically at Cloudflare. Anywhere else, the Manual tab lists the records to add, with a CNAME or A record for the root domain. No nameserver change needed.

Connect DNS, Manual tab, listing the records to add at the DNS provider
  3. 3

    Live with HTTPS

RedirHub checks each record and issues the certificate for the root and www. When the domain shows Connected, the redirect is live.

Automatic HTTPS

A certificate is issued and renewed for every domain you connect, root and www, so no visitor sees a “Not secure” warning.

Every redirect type

301, 302, 307 and 308 on every plan. Frame redirects, which keep your domain in the address bar, are on Pro.

Paths and queries kept

old-brand.com/pricing?utm_source=x lands on newbrand.com/pricing?utm_source=x, not the homepage.

Analytics

Clicks for every redirect, with 90 days of history on Core. Pro adds detailed reports (locations, devices, referrers) and 6 months of history.

API, MCP and CSV

REST API and MCP server on every plan. Import and export redirects as CSV, and update or delete in bulk.

Wildcard subdomainsPRO

One rule for every subdomain, *.yourdomain.com, with paths kept.

Multiple destinationsPRO

Split traffic across destinations at random for a simple A/B test, or send it in sequence.

Link health monitoringPRO

Get told when a destination stops answering, before visitors do.

Change history and SSOPRO

See who changed each link, when and from where. SSO is a Pro add-on and included in Enterprise.

Your options

Three ways to redirect URLs

Registrar forwarding is fine for one domain, and a server you already run is fine for a few rules. A redirect service pays off once you have several domains, a site move or links you need to measure.

5-star reviews on G2

Redirecting domain names with SSL is a huge pain, and I have to do it frequently, often at mass. Now it is a few clicks. It just works.

FAQ

URL redirect service questions

What is a URL redirect service?
A hosted service that answers requests for a domain or URL with a redirect to a new address, so you don't run a web server just to forward traffic. You point the domain's DNS to the service once; it serves the redirects and their HTTPS certificates.
Is URL forwarding the same as a redirect?
Usually, yes. Registrars call it URL or domain forwarding, and it is a 301 or 302 redirect underneath. What differs is HTTPS, path handling and how many domains you can manage in one place.
Do I have to move my domain or nameservers?
No. The domain stays with your registrar and your DNS stays where it is. You add a CNAME or A record for the root and www, or let Connect DNS do it automatically at Cloudflare. Your email records are not touched.
Which redirect type should I use?
Use a 301 when the move is permanent: browsers remember it and search engines pass the old URL's ranking signals to the new one. Use a 302 while the move is temporary or you are testing. 307 and 308 work like 302 and 301 but keep the request method, which matters for forms and APIs. All four are on every plan.
Can I redirect hundreds of URLs at once?
Yes. Import a CSV and review what it adds, updates and leaves alone before anything is saved, or create a website migration that keeps the path for unchanged pages and maps the rest. You can also update or delete redirects in bulk from the dashboard, the REST API or the MCP server.
How fast are the redirects?
Each request is answered at the nearest of 130 global PoPs, so the redirect adds very little to the visit. You can measure it yourself with the Redirect Speed Test, which times only the redirect response from Washington, D.C., Frankfurt and Tokyo.
Can I manage redirects through an API?
Yes. The REST API and the MCP server are on every plan, so you can create, update and delete redirects from your own code or an AI agent, within the same plan limits as the dashboard.
